| Shalom, Salaam -- coming together as one By Amina Eckmann On the evening of July 9th longing hearts from our beautifully diverse community joined in the spirit of unity in the sanctuary of Nahalat Shalom in a sufi zhikr with Shaykha Fariha al-Jerrahi, visiting from New York City, and dervishes of Albuquerque. Sitting in a vast circle affirming that there is only One Reality all voices became a single voice chanting "La ilaha ilallah, Allah, and Hu." Rising, the circle moved as one body intoning "Hay," the Living, to the rhythm of ecstatic hymns, drumming, and whirling. A profound discussion followed amidst an atmosphere of deep peace and companionship. Our gratitude to Rabbi Lynn and Congregation Nahalat Shalom for the open door and spaciousness for this deep sharing to take place.
