Nahalat Shalom is a welcoming, inclusive congregation that inspires understanding of the joys, practices, and ethics of Judaism
and nurtures spiritual growth.
Israel/Palestine and Nahalat Shalom
For two thousand years, it has been said that wherever there are two Jews, there are three opinions. In too many Jewish congregations today, when it comes to Israel/Palestine, it seems that only one opinion is allowed. At Nahalat Shalom, we have as many opinions as we have congregants -- plus one, of course. When we put "inclusive" in our self-description, we meant it and we mean it. Hard times require hard discussions; we try to have those discussions. We are not always good at it, but we continue to try. We hope you'll join us.

Refresh your souls with shared song, worship, and learning. New and old melodies in a traditional-ish service including creative ways to make the parashah come alive - drama, storytelling, discussion. Families with children (even very young!) are especially encouraged to join - we expect your children to act like children and that is welcome! May they absorb the joy and song around them like the sponges they are. Kiddush and oneg to follow - feel free to bring something to share.
Come for part or all of this evening renewing the musical and linguistic inheritance of 150 years of Ashkenazi struggle against socio-economic oppression, war, and inequality.

6:30 potluck dinner and havdole (songs marking the end of the sabbath) led by the Nahalat Shalalom Community.
7:30 Solo set of historical Yiddish songs and contemporary Yiddish compositions in response to capitalism, colonialism, perpertual war, and climate collapse by Jordan Wax
