Nahalat Shalom welcomes all ages to a very special evening of body movement and prayer in a Jewish Renewal setting. Selichot --The Dance of Forgiveness--
Yoga, Dancing, Havdalah & Selichot Service will take place at Nahalat Shalom on Saturday September 16th.
Family Yoga for all ages and all levels, taught by certified children’s yoga teacher and educator, Linda Brody will start at 5:30 PM. The classes will incorporate readings from the book The Soul Bird by Michal Snunit.
At 6:45 PM we’ll explore simple circle dance as a tool for soul searching, reflection and forgiveness. Live music will be provided by Cantor Beth Cohen and Alavados Holy-days band. Dances will be taught and lead by the Rikud Yiddish Dancers and Nahalat Shalom member, Alan Wagman. Some dances are from Universal Dances of Peace.
At 8:00 PM Havdalah will include songs, ritual, and a Havdalah dance led by
The Rikud Yiddish Dancers.
At 8:15 PM Selichot Service will include prayers and writings in Hebrew, Ladino, Spanish and English.
All are invited to attend all or any part of the evening. Wear cloths comfortable for body movement. There will be a finger food buffet and anyone who wants may bring veggie finger food or cookies. There is no cost. Donations are always gratefully accepted (after Shabbat).
