Jewish Asylum Seeker Initiative (JASI) Meeting

From Jessica Corley

Everyone who has been involved or who would like to be are invited. Several members of the group have asked for a follow-up to the work we have been continuing to do, and to discuss future assistance we might be able to provide, especially to the transwomen from Cibola. I have an update about that and Rabbi Min has some other ideas to share with our group. The support we have provided to the shelters in Mexico has been so welcomed and needed by them. Our latest purchase of a refrigerator for Pan De Vida was met with great enthusiasm and gratitude; they even sent me some photos of the fridge and to say thank you!

I also wanted to let you know that because of the financial situation at Congregation Albert, they will not be ale to pay for my trip to the URJ Biennial to receive the Fain Award on behalf of JASI. While I am really disappointed to not be able to go to represent our group, the President of Congregation Albert, Dale Atkinson, will be attending the Conference and has offered to receive the award on our behalf. We can talk about that at the meeting also.

Please rsvp to jcorley61@msn.com for the meeting...I hope most of us can attend to make some decisions on how we can continue to support Asylum Seekers.

B'Kehillah, Jessica

NOTE: This meeting will be in the Bayt B'racha uilding - you may enter though the courtyard.
