Sheet music & professional instruction provided by Beth Cohen: Nahalat Shalom’s Cantor & music director--Bachelor of Music Degree--Experienced string, orchestra & band teacher—Well-known performer & teacher of Klezmer, Balkan & East European music.

RIKUD DANCE TROUPE
We will learn how to play & dance to Klezmer music (East-European Jewish instrumental dance music): Freylekhs, Khosidls, Bulgars, Hongas, Zhoks, Shiffers tantz, Terkishes, Kolomeikes & Sirbas-- Plus- we’ll learn Yiddish & Sephardic folk songs; Chassidic nigunim (wordless melodies); Russian songs & dance music; Israeli dance music and a few Balkan, Romani (Gypsy) & Middle-Eastern tunes; We’ll play, sing & study the traditional modes (scales) and rhythms of Klezmer music as well as traditional improvisatory techniques (doina, vorshpiel and taxim).
