Critical Blood Shortage - You can save lives!
When catastrophe strikes, we reach out however we can to help. Flood, famine, fire, earthquakes, economic hardships -- these disasters bring people together in common purpose. But epidemics are different; we MUST stay apart to help one another. One consequence is that the supply of donated blood has reached dangerously low levels. Hospitals are rationing blood products such as plasma and platelets and giving patients who need them less and less in order to stretch the available stock.See more information: https://www.koat.com/article/coronavirus-causing-statewide-blood-shortage/31759363#
You can help! New Mexico's blood bank, Vitalant, has instituted practices in conjunction with the NM Department of Health that make setting up blood drives and donating as safe as possible to reduce potential exposure to Covid-19. Donors are kept far from one another and equipment is discarded or sterilized between each use. It is safer than going to the supermarket at 7:00 am.
Donors will enter and exit through the side doors of the Gallery (facing Rio Grande Blvd).
To avoid people waiting, you must make an appointment and arrive promptly.
