PDF Haggadah

Greetings friends. I know we are all deeply saddened and shocked by the recent acts of violence in our country and one that was so close to home in Boulder. It is another harsh reminder of the mitzrayim (narrow places) that still exist in our own country and communities - and throughout the world. At our upcoming chag of Pesach, we also focus our own personal mitzrayim as well as the Mitzrayim of the world. Our family and community seders - in person (distanced and masked) or on Zoom - give us this precious time to focus on the healing and work that still needs to be done. We know that our seders never really end and Egypt (Mitzrayim) still exists until there can be justice, freedom and peace for all living beings. Nevertheless, we take this sacred time every year to remember that sweet brief taste of freedom along with the lasting bitter taste of slavery and injustice.

It will be an honor to have you join Maggidah Batya Podos and I for Nahalat Shalom's Annual Community Seder on the second night of Pesach via Zoom this Sunday, March 28 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. We will take a break for dinner (shulchan oreykh) at approximately 7:15-8:15 PM, but you can leave your cameras and mics on if you wish to shmooze during dinner. Our Haggadah is based on the one we have been using for almost 30 years that was originally made by Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb. Batya and I will supplement it with introductions from The Black Lives Matter Haggadah Supplement and other current sources. We will sing our favorite Seder songs and prayers in Hebrew, Ladino and Yiddish including a cool new "Had Gadya" in Ladino called "Un Cavrito." The link to our updated Nahalat Shalom haggadah will be posted shortly.
