Chag Sameach—Happy Holiday! We’ve reached the culmination of the Counting of the Omer….so it must be Shavuot! Shavuot, which is celebrated on the evening of Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5, is the traditional time when we receive Torah. In anticipation of this momentous event, Jewish people around the world study Torah all evening, and sometimes, all night! Shavuot literally means “weeks”, the conclusion of counting the seven weeks of the Omer period. It’s an early harvest holiday, when we celebrate the wheat harvest and the arrival of all those wonderful Spring fruits. Join others in the Albuquerque community for some learning on Saturday night!
