In Person Only: Chanting Kabbalat Shabbat with Judy Brown and Sofie Shefia Stephanie Cohen

What does it mean to be pure? How do we find holiness? And what does all this have to do with Love? The double parsha for this week, Acharey Mot-Kedoshim, raises these central questions. Leviticus is the middle book of the Torah and Kedoshim is the middle portion, and it contains the phrase often considered the heart of the Torah: “You must love your neighbor as you love yourself.” We will contemplate this as we welcome Shabbat by chanting sacred phrases and, in the silence after the chant, receiving the light they shine on these matters.

This month, our Chanting Kabbalat Shabbat will be in the sanctuary at Nahalat Shalom, and will be in-person only. The service will be co-led by Judy Brown and Sofie Shefia Stephanie Cohen, who look forward to hearing all of our voices join together.
