Let us welcome the arrival of the Sabbath Bride by chanting sacred phrases together, as we let go of the week that was and, in the silence after the chant, receive the blessings of Shabbat.
In this week’s parsha, Jacob awakens from a dream and sees that he is in a holy place, that God was here all along and he didn’t know it. Mah norah HaMakom HaZeh! (“How awesome is this place!”) We’ll contemplate holding onto that awakened state, even when we are wrestling with what is.
Chanting Kabbalat Shabbat will meet in the welcoming and spacious sanctuary at Nahalat Shalom. The chant sheet is available HERE, though it’s not necessary to know the chants beforehand. The service leaders, Judy Brown and Sofie Shefia Stephanie Cohen, look forward to hearing all of our voices joining in generosity.
