Celebrate Purim with your Nahalat Shalom Community . We will begin by learning about Purim with story and games led by Rabbi Min Kantrowitz, followed by Cantor Beth Cohen's chanting of a version of the Megillah in English in the traditional melody. We will then have conversation about the deeper meaning of Purim - What does it mean to be in hiding? (as Queen Esther was about her Jewish identity.) What does it mean to come out of hiding and claim our true selves? (as Queen Esther finally succeeded in doing.) We will look at this theme of hiddenness in relation to the Sephardic/Crypto Jewish experience, LGBTQ, and domestic .
