This day began as an historic marker and remembrance of the fall of the First Temple, and then after WWII of those who perished in the Holocaust. This evening will open with the Mourner's Kaddish and a blessing in remembrance of victims of the Holocaust, followed by a potluck meal and the sharing of stories, poems, songs, photos to honor all those lost to us: the unhoused, substance abusers, disowned youth, missing and murdered indigenous women who never returned, and las desaparacidas de la frontera, refugees who never arrived, and the innocent civilians in Palestine, Ukraine, South Sudan buried under the rubble of war.
