This is the LAST “official” rehearsal of The Nahalat Shalom Community Klezmer Band & Rikud Dancers of the Winter/Spring season. Sign up for Nahalat Shalom’s e-news and keep checking back on the web site for our occasional rehearsals on Sundays 3-5pm in May, June, July and August. Have you always wanted to be able to read Hebrew? Did you learn the alef bet in Hebrew school but find yourself in need of an alphabet refresh? This six session learn the alef bet class is for you! Join student rabbi Josie for a six session exploration of the Hebrew alphabet, students will learn Hebrew letters and vowels, and build confidence in sounding out Hebrew words!

Students should purchase Aleph Isn't Tough: An Introduction to Hebrew for Adults prior to the first class.

Join student rabbi Josie for an introduction to Torah Chanting covering the basics of Torah Trope, the musical system used for chanting from the Torah. If you are new to chanting Torah or are looking for a refresher, this class is for you!

The mitzvah - instruction - to mark the Jewish month with the new moon is the first mitzvah given to the Israelites in the Torah as they depart from Egypt. This ancient custom of gathering to mark the new Jewish month offers a chance for reflection and insight. Join student rabbi Josie to begin the new months of Shevat, Adar, and Nisan in song, conversation, and guided reflection.
